Supervised Visitation

The Wellstone Family Safety Program offers supervised visitation on-site in Family Resource Centers throughout Itasca County.  Supervised visits allow the non-custodial parent to continue or even begin a relationship with their child/children.

Therapeutic Supervised Visitation

Therapeutic supervised visitations are conducted when a family has a history of sexual abuse of a child, there has been a long period of separation between the parent/child(ren), the non-custodial parent's behavior scares the child(ren) or the last time the child(ren) has seen the parent was during a violent incident.  A therapeutic visit operates similar to a supervised visit, except that a licensed therapist is the person supervising the visit.  The therapist interacts with the family prior to, during, and after the visit to mend and heal the parent / child(ren) relationship.

Supervised Exchanges

Supervised exchanges are designed to transfer children from one parent to the other for visitation without the parents having any contact with each other and thereby eliminating the possibility of children witnessing any violence between the adults.

How do I receive services?

The Wellstone Family Safety Program requires each parent to set up an intake interview to familiarize them with the building, staff and to review the policies before services begin.

To set up an intake, please call the Wellstone Family Safety Program at (218) 256-4052.  After the intake process is complete, a day and time for visitation or exchange will be made.

All visits and exchanges must be scheduled through the Family Safety Program .  Dates and times set up by referral agencies might not fit into our schedule.

There is a fee for using our services.  The fee is based on a sliding scale depending on income.  The fee required will be determined during the intake interview.
